Wilmington Design Company Named One of North Carolina's Best Employers

Wilmington Design Co. was recently named as one of the Best Employers in North Carolina for 2018.

The statewide survey and awards program identifies, recognizes and honors the best places of employment in North Carolina. The list of the Best Employers in North Carolina was created by Business North Carolina, the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) – NC State Council and the Best Companies Group. Wilmington Design Co ranked number 18 on the list of 45 North Carolina companies recognized across the state as a champion of corporate culture and workplace excellence.

“We were super excited and honored to be included on this list. I think that it says a lot about our team as well as the work and focus that we put on our overall company culture,” said Bill Hunter, President/CEO of Wilmington Design. “We have a small but rapidly growing local team, and it’s really important that our company culture represents a sum of its parts.”

Wilmington Design Co. is a full-service growth marketing, branding and web development agency headquartered in the midtown area of beautiful Wilmington, North Carolina. Over the years, the business has attracted talented designers, developers, and marketing specialists from around the country. “There is no doubt that the Wilmington area plays a huge role in attracting candidates that are looking for opportunities in our field,” says Bill Hunter. “We are planning to increase our current staff by about 25% in the next 6 months to keep pace with the growing demand from current clients as well as strong growth in our digital marketing and web dev business units. Hopefully, the statewide recognition will help attract additional talent to our team.”

The trend for perks and benefits have shifted with today’s workforce who are more keenly aware of things that contribute to work/life balance and overall quality of life. “In recent years, we’ve focused on increasing employee engagement and that has become a large part of our overall hiring strategy,” said Kim Hunter, Director of Operations. “Our company culture is in direct alignment with the reason that many choose to live and work in the Wilmington area.”

The entire company has been involved in shaping the direction of the overall culture at WDC. Many of the policy decisions and benefits were driven by direct input from the employees. “What makes this recognition so special is that it’s determined by those who know us best: our team,” said Kim Hunter. “We take tremendous pride in our people and are grateful to them for making WDC such a great place to work.”
