We both know that there are a lot of factors that make a successful HVAC company.

But if you look at all the multi-million dollar HVAC businesses, they all have one thing in common – they’ve mastered generating new leads.

One new way those companies are doing it is by using Google Local Service Ads.

Google Local Service ads show on Google search results when someone searches for services like, “AC repair company” or “HVAC installation contractor”.

These ads are the first thing customers see when searching for your service. So how do you get your HVAC business showing up on Google Local Service ads?

First, I’ll briefly tell you how they work, then I’ll show you step-by-step instructions on how you can sign up today.

Like I mentioned above, when someone searches on Google for one of your services, your ads can appear. When someone calls your business through the phone number provided you are charged a fixed amount for that lead (depending on your service area it can range anywhere from $6 to $30).

Because these ads are so powerful (and profitable), Google only promotes businesses that pass the requirements below.

You’ll need to:

  • Have a local HVAC business license
  • Complete background checks for you, your field workers, and your business
  • Provide proof of business liability insurance

If you have these things then you can sign up for Google Local Service Ads and become Google Guaranteed.

Now that you know what these ads are and understand the benefits, here are the steps to get started.

Steps To Becoming A Google-Guaranteed HVAC Company

1. Create a new Gmail account & sign up for Google Local Services

Google Local Service Ads are still in their infancy, so to avoid any problems when signing up it’s best to create a new Gmail account.

To do that go to gmail.com and enter in your information to open a new account. Once you have a new Gmail account, visit this Google Local Services sign up page to get started.

Once you’re at that page the next steps will show you how to set your account up correctly to start bringing you in new leads.

2. Fill out your business information

Once you’ve signed up you’ll then be prompted to enter in information about you and your business.

To start, you’ll need to enter the state you offer service in, your company name, and then you need to self-verify that you have a local HVAC business license.

Once you click “check eligibility”, you’ll then be prompted to type in an email address to create your account. Enter the new email that we created in step 1.

After that, you’ll be taken to the “Business Details” page where you’ll enter your website, phone number, year founded, and other information about your company.

You’ll also be asked to enter the number of field workers (excluding you) you employ. In other words, how many of your employees will interact with customers in their home. Keep in mind that everyone you count will need to fill out a background check.

Pro Tip: Google will show your ad less often if you miss calls. So make sure you enter in a phone number that will be picked up if a customer calls.

3. Select your ideal lead

Just like any ad, you want to choose where that ad is shown so you know the leads and calls to your business are from an area you service.

So once your basic business information is filled out, you’ll be asked to select zip codes you’d like your ads to show in.

Not only does Google let you choose where the leads come from, but you can also specify what those leads are looking for.

Let’s say you only want business installing new units, that’s easy, simply select the options that are about installing new HVAC, AC, and Heating systems.

4. Send in your paperwork

Once you finish entering in your business information you’ll be taken to a screen that prompts you to submit that final details that certifies you Google Guaranteed.

First, to take care of the easy things, enter in your billing information and weekly budget for your account. Then connect your Google My Business Page, this contributes to the review count and star rating you’ll see on your Local Service Ads.

Now that your account is set up with all the right information, Google needs to verify that your business meets the requirements to become Google-Guaranteed HVAC company.

To recap you will need to:

  • Have a local HVAC business license
  • Complete background checks for you, your field workers, and your business
  • Provide proof of business liability insurance

To finish the account set up, add your license/insurance details, and complete the background checks required.

From there, it’s a waiting game for everything to be reviewed and approved. You can view your status under the “Verification Status” section.

Phew – that was a lot of steps, and there’s no doubt you’ll have a few questions. Phone support is usually available but because of the restrictions in place from COVID-19, you can only reach customer support via this form.
