15 Real Estate-Related Movies

There are actually many Real Estate-related movies for any type of genre: dramas, thrillers, comedies, tear-jerkers, horrors, and even slasher films. Here’s a list — in no particular order — of some you’ve probably seen and some you might have not… 1. The Money Pit (1986), starring Tom Hanks and Shelley Long A couple desperately tries to repair their newly purchased, rundown, disaster of a house. Renovation proves to be equally disaster-prone. 2. You’ve always been taught that saying “thank you” is important and courteous. But don’t think of it as being just a polite gesture — it may also help your business succeed. This is not an article about how the business world has turned into a cold, sterile,...

Rising costs may push renters to home ownership

Home prices are affordable, mortgage rates are low, options are plentiful, and now there’s another reason for buyers to make the leap into home ownership: rent is on the rise. Stigmatized property...

My new favorite TV show, American Horror Story on FX, is about an old restored mansion which the locals have dubbed “murder house.” The current homeowners are trying to sell their haunted house to no avail. Maybe you’ve never had to sell a haunted house, but most agents at...

How an earthquake teaches us about human nature

If you felt that earthquake last week, it might have taken you by surprise. If you’re like me, you immediately turned to the Internet and Facebook to see what other people were saying and to learn where the epicenter of the quake occurred. One thing is for sure: human nature forces us to share our unique experiences with others and be validated by other people’s experiences as well. This phenomenon (the sharing of experiences, not the earthquake itself) has been a part of our human psyche throughout history. Why does it matter if other people felt the way you did about an event? Because we all crave validation. We want to know...

4 types of bad clien...

You know them well — those nagging, annoying clients who are impossible to please and drive you up the wall. Your sellers get upset about falling prices, and your buyers expect you to be a mind-reader. No company can run effectively when confronted with clients who function from a place...

Most people tend to avoid one-on-one interaction with real estate agents, which is why holding an event can keep the pressure off your guests. Real Estate events don’t have to be gimmicky. They can be great vehicles to promote your business, community or even an individual listing. They...
